OHFA Homebuyer Guide Helps Ohioans Reach Their Homeownership Goals

COLUMBUS, OH - Becoming a homeowner is a goal for many Ohioans and buying a home is one of the most significant investments a person will make in their lifetime. The Ohio Housing Finance Agency's (OHFA's) newest Homebuyer Guide provides the resources and planning tools Ohioans need when they start their homeownership journey. It includes a step-by-step overview of how to plan for and where to start the path toward purchasing a home.

The Guide also includes a budget tracking sheet and checklist that covers everything from loan pre-qualification to what documents are needed at closing. A glossary of terms in the Guide has all the definitions future homebuyers should know.

"We want Ohioans to know that buying a home is achievable and our Homebuyer Guide answers many of the questions first-time homebuyers have," said Bill Beagle, executive director of OHFA. "The process of getting into your first house can be overwhelming, but OHFA is here to help, whether it's through our Homebuyer Guide or by using one of our homebuyer assistance programs."

The Homebuyer Guide also outlines future home-related expenses to plan for, helps readers understand how much to borrow, and the support to expect from a real estate professional. It provides additional resources from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Real Estate, Ohio Department of Insurance, credit score tracking websites, and more.

OHFA also offers a number of down payment assistance programs that can make the process of buying a home easier. Eligibility requirements for OHFA's programs and the Homebuyer Guide are available at MyOhioHome.org. Both digital and printable versions of the Guide are available.
