The 2024 Ohio Housing Conference is quickly approaching, and we at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) and Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) are gearing up to host more than 1,500 attendees from over 36 states at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on November 5–6, 2024. The two-day event will include more than 30 sessions exploring trending topics in the affordable housing industry.
The 2024 conference will feature two plenary sessions during which we will discuss shifts in the state's economic landscape and how businesses are responding to the housing needs of Ohio's workforce. The "Welcome & Economic Forecast" will kick off the first day of the conference with a look at the state of the economy and housing, both nationally and statewide, and how election outcomes may impact the industry. On Wednesday, the "Business Investments in Housing: A CEO Roundtable," we'll have a discussion with business leaders on Ohio's housing challenges and how they are impacting business plans and investment strategies. Led by President and CEO of the Ohio Business Roundtable Pat Tiberi, this discussion will provide insight on how housing industry leaders can partner with Ohio's major employers to address the state's housing needs.
This year's keynote speaker is Andre Norman. After spending two years in solitary confinement during a daunting 105-year sentence at a maximum security prison, Andre's journey is a testament to the transformative power of resilience and a second chance. Now a Harvard Fellow, Andre travels internationally, leveraging his unique experience to teach others his process of transitioning from a life of incarceration to overcoming impossible odds and conquering self-doubt.
At this year's conference, we will again present the prestigious William J. Graves Ohio Housing Excellence Award and the Ohio Housing Hall of Fame awards. The William J. Graves Ohio Housing Excellence Award will be given to a person or organization dedicated to providing safe, quality affordable housing for Ohioans and preventing homelessness. The third annual Ohio Housing Hall of Fame induction will honor individuals who have dedicated their careers to improving housing opportunities for low- to moderate-income Ohio families, strengthening Ohio's communities, and providing critical resources to the state of Ohio to prevent and end homelessness.
