Target Area Description
Over-the-Rhine is located just north of downtown Cincinnati. The neighborhood was settled and named by German immigrants in the 1830s. It is one of the largest, most intact urban historic districts in the United States and contains the largest collection of 19th century Italianate Architecture. Over-the-Rhine has been the target of revitalization efforts for over ten years and has seen the renovation of many historic buildings, new residents, and the opening of restaurants and retail shops. It is home to residents with a mix of backgrounds, ethnicities, and incomes and is seen as a cultural center of Cincinnati.
