OHFA Awards Over $2 Million to Provide Affordable Housing to Seniors and Veterans
COLUMBUS - The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) is providing $2,885,000 to McBride Place, a three-story, affordable housing development in Dayton, Ohio. This development will be located at 4100 West Third Street, which is on the Veterans Affairs (VA) campus, and will provide 59 units of affordable housing to seniors with special preference given to veterans.
This development will be attached to Lyons Place II, an affordable housing development previously funded by OHFA that also serves seniors and veterans. Lyons Place II was filled within 66 days and has a year-long waiting list, which demonstrates the need for affordable housing for this population in Dayton. McBride Place will help to fill that gap by providing additional housing in the same convenient location for veterans.
Specifically, OHFA is providing $985,000 in housing tax credits, $650,000 in Housing Development Assistance Programs funds and a $1.25 million Housing Development Loan.
Residents of McBride Place will have access to all of the amenities included in Lyons Place II, including a multi-purpose room and a large dining room. Both buildings include parking, access to a walking trail, an accessible community garden and a play area for visiting grandchildren. St. Mary Development Corporation will also provide supportive services such as daily living assistance, housekeeping and wellness support.
In addition to being close to the VA Medical Center, a bus stop is located directly in front of the entrance to the property, and the development itself has strong support from VA leadership. The campus also includes its own police and fire services. McBride Place will be developed by the St. Mary Development Corporation and will be managed by National Church Residences.
OHFA remains committed to serving veterans across the state of Ohio through the developments we fund, the homeownership programs we administer and the events in which we participate. On July 6, 2018, OHFA will be participating in 97.1 The Fan's Military Appreciation Day at Land Grant Brewing in Columbus, Ohio. This event will celebrate and thank the people who serve this nation with a live broadcast of Common Man and T-Bone, a Battle of the Branches and additional live music. This event will take place between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
