Vermillion Place Kinship Housing is a new construction development consisting of 26 affordable three-bedroom rental units in 13 duplex buildings located in Dayton, Montgomery County. The development will serve households earning between 50% and 60% of Area Median Gross Income (AMGI) and has received funding support from HUD Community Project Funding along with several local funding sources.
The site will feature a variety of amenities, including an outdoor playground, covered shelter, community garden, and a community building with a kitchenette, meeting space, and community room. Each unit will include a washer and dryer, microwave, smart thermostat, patio, and ample storage. The project is also pursuing LEED Silver certification.
Vermillion Place Kinship Housing is located near employment opportunities, retail, businesses, and health care facilities that provide essential services to residents. The development is designed to support families with children being raised by someone other than a parent–often a grandparent–due to housing instability or other family circumstances. Children in kinship care frequently face significant trauma related to the death or incarceration of a parent.
Upon completion, Dayton Children's Hospital will serve as the sole general partner for the development.
