Sandstone Apartments is a 50-unit, new construction development that contains a mixture of two-, three-, and four-bedroom units for families. Funding provided by OHFA enabled the owner to construct 12 ranch-style buildings with attached garages along the main corridor in The Plains, Athens County.
Site amenities include green space, a community garden, children's playground, and shelter house with grills and picnic tables. Community spaces include a community room with gathering space, a kitchen, laundry, exercise equipment and a lending library. Unit features include attached garage, Energy Star appliances, six-panel solid core interior doors, safety features, ample storage space and washer/dryer hookups. Universal Design and Enterprise Green Communities Criteria were incorporated in to the development.
Sandstone Apartments is in proximity to a variety of shops, restaurants, and business. A public bus stop is located approximately one-quarter mile from the development, in the adjacent shopping mall. Three units will be affordable and occupied by households at 30% AMGI, 15 units will be affordable and occupied by households at 50% AMGI and 32 units will be affordable and occupied by households at 60% AMGI. Located in an Appalachian county, the project received consideration for being in a county showing net stable job growth and that is part of a revitalization, stabilization or economic development plan.
