Built around the community's desire to utilize the historic Douglas Hotel/Inn, Urbana North Elementary School, and Urbana South Elementary School buildings, Legacy Place is a low-income housing tax credit development that will provide 51 units of affordable housing for individuals ages 55 and older in Urbana, Ohio. Renovations include structural maintenance, mechanical systems replacement, new interior walls and finishes, new plumbing and fixtures, and sprinkler systems. Residents will enjoy a lending library, exercise facility, security system with controlled access, computer center, community room with TV, and ample outdoor space with seating areas, plant beds, a fire pit, and playgrounds. Each apartment will include energy star appliances, hardwood floors, ceiling fans, and in-unit washer/dryers.

Legacy Place is in very close proximity to shops and businesses, including Mercy Memorial Hospital and a pharmacy, that provide services for the residents. Six units are affordable to and occupied by households at or below 30% of the area median gross income (AMGI), six units are for households at or below 50% of the AMGI, and the remaining 39 units are at 60% of the AMGI. Committed to supporting integrated communities, Legacy Place has six units that qualify for 811 project rental assistance.

Legacy Place is a cornerstone of community and town center events, such as the annual Holiday Horse Parade and Santa Land.
