Aspen Place is a 40-unit development that contains a mix of one-, two- and four-bedroom apartments for families. Funding provided through OHFA facilitated the construction of the three-story building, located in the heart of the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood's EcoVillage, a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly urban village in Cleveland.
The site features green space, community and rain gardens, and a tree buffer surrounding the building. Community amenities include a key-fob entrance, laundry, bicycle storage and a community room with a kitchen. The spacious units include programmable thermostats, durable flooring, and appliances that meet EnergyStar requirements.
Residents of Aspen Place are in close proximity to an RTA station and the newly-renovated, 22-acre Zone Recreation Center that are both free to residents. The development is within one mile of a variety of shops, eateries, businesses and the library, which provides services for the residents in the community. Six units will be affordable to and occupied by households at or below 30% of the AMGI, ten units will be affordable to and occupied by households at or below 50% of the AMGI, and the remaining 24 units will be at 60% of the AMGI. Additionally, the project received Exceptional Development consideration in the areas of Creative Design, Economic Development, Education and Opportunity, and Workforce Housing.
