OHFA 2021 Fourth Quarter Agency at a Glance
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency wrapped up 2021 on a good note. More than 700 people attended the Ohio Housing Conference, the Outreach & Engagement Division had more than 400 people attend their webinars or in-person seminars promoting OHFA’s homebuyer programs, and the Compliance team inspected more than 1,950 buildings. Housing Policy team released the FY2021 Annual Report as well as the final Ohio Hardest Hit Fund report, which highlights the program outcomes and best practices. The Research Division is working closely with the Office of Housing Preservation to develop reporting and tracking tools for the Homeowner Assistance Fund Program. While the Outreach & Engagement Division has released an Affordable Housing Programs Resource Manual, and Tenant Selection Plan guidelines to assist industry partners, property owners, and management agents. The Office of Multifamily Housing published the 2022-2023 QAP, and its companion 2022 Underwriting Guidelines and 2022 Design & Architectural Guidelines. OHFA also developed the Additional Tax Credits Policy in response to the pandemic’s impact on construction costs for projects funded in 2019 and 2020. Approved by the Multifamily Committee and Board in mid-calendar year 2021, the policy allows projects approved in the 2019 and 2020 9% tax credit rounds to make additional funding requests up to $100,000. In addition to file audits and physical building inspections, the Multifamily Housing Compliance division completed a massive project to become a “paperless” division over the course of the last year. Our team reviewed over 1,500 project folders and hundreds of other documents and transferred them to electronic filing system. As we look to 2022, OHFA will be expanding the Homeowner Assistance Fund to help more Ohio homeowners that experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.
