OHFA UPDATE - PAGE 5 - 2021 THIRD QUARTER OFFICE OF MULTIFAMILY HOUSING Fall is here and OHFA’s Compliance division staff has returned to the road to conduct physical inspections. OHFA resumed physical inspections in early September and will continue throughout the rest of the year. IRS/HUD COVID-19 waivers will expire on September 30, 2021, so the Compliance team is back out on the road to meet our regulatory requirements. Three new Housing Examiner Trainees recently joined the team! The Compliance team is excited to welcome Leah Jenks , Jantel Jones and Aleshia Woods to OHFA. OHFA’s legal department has updated the e-signature policy . The updated policy allows for additional documents that are not specifically listed to be signed electronically. This update also accepts electronic documents that are expressly permitted under applicable HUD guidance . Compliance has also updated its current utility allowance (UA) policy. The update will permit HOME units established after August 23, 2013 to be Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) units. Please refer to the UA policy for details on how to stay in compliance with the LIHTC and HOME programs in this scenario. To help bring projects funded with HOME into compliance, staff emailed information to owners/managers with HOME units established before 2014 regarding their HOME affordability period. The email detailed the date of the next full third-party recertification and the affordability start and end dates for the HOME units. Staff are currently reviewing all the responses from partners and will respond to emails as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience as we work through the process.
