OHFA 2021 Third Quarter Agency at a Glance
OHFA UPDATE - PAGE 2 - 2021 THIRD QUARTER COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING UPDATE DORCAS TAYLOR JONES CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER The Communications and Marketing team started the summer thinking about the winter. More specifically, the Ohio Housing Conference, which will be held virtually Weds., Dec. 1 – Thurs., Dec. 2, 2021. Pro: No construction, traffic, or parking to contend with. Con: Another year without seeing longtime industry colleagues (or meeting new ones). Like most new experiences, last year ’s first-ever virtual Ohio Conference had elements that worked well and others that needed fine-tuning. So conference coordinators read and heard attendee feedback and worked to make modifications to this year ’s experience and session lengths and options. . For example, earlier this summer conference coordinators distributed a survey asking what topics attendees would like offered this year; the results helped coordinators shape what is quickly becoming an even richer content experience. In addition, attendees shared that sessions could be shorter, so registrants will experience most sessions ranging from 60 – 75 minutes. Coordinators recognized time is a precious commodity, particularly in a virtual environment when attendees’ attention are likely being pulled in multiple directions. Plenary sessions will tackle real-world issues with experts and thought leaders. Another lesson learned last year that is more pronounced in our virtual environment: Attendees preferred the online experience to end earlier than the in-person experience. Sessions will end no later than 2:30pm. On Thursday, attendees who choose to do so may attend one of several curated “after conference” roundtables from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. This is also the first year that online sponsorship registration (with an online payment option) will be available. Keep an eye out for more details in a forthcoming email. General attendee registration for the 21st Ohio Housing Conference opens in October. Although most would likely agree that having an in-person event would be great, this year ’s OHC may surprise you.
