2021 Second Quarter Agency at a Glance

Springtime ushers in sunshine and the homebuyer season. Our Office of Single Family Housing’s Residential Lending division is seeing an uptick in reservations after a slower start to the quarter and are staying busy putting together new programs. The Housing Preservation division of Single Family Housing is designing a plan to help homeowners affected by the pandemic to stay in their homes. The program will use Ohio’s allocation of the Homeowners Assistance Fund from the America Rescue Plan. Communications and Marketing started the second quarter with the virtual Race for a Place (to Call Home) 5K, which closed with more than $35,000 in donations to housing organizations across the state. The Office of Multifamily Housing’s Development division awarded the 2021 Housing Tax Credits in May, worked to support developments impacted by higher-than-expected construction costs due to the pandemic, and managed to add some new staff. Multifamily Housing’s Compliance division staff are ready to head out on the road again in the third quarter and are completing file reviews, an important step in the process to begin physical inspections again. It ’s been a productive second quarter for the Office of Research and Analytics. Staff released two blogs, two infographics, and two podcast episodes. Next up are regional housing assessments and the Annual Plan. Multifamily Training and Technical Assistance produced and hosted a new LIHTCs essential course.
