Fall 2019 Agency at a Glance

As the end of the calendar year approaches, OHFA staff have been hard at-work to complete 2019 goals and are looking forward to 2020 projects. The Office of Housing Policy has begun drafting the FY 2021 Housing Needs Assessment and Annual Plan. Take a look back at other research and strategy work the team has completed, including our Stories of Home blog . Fiscal year 2020 is off to a strong start in the Office of Homeownership. The team closed more than 1,100 loans, totaling $151 million. The Neighborhood Initiative Program reimbursed land banks for 972 parcels from June through August of 2019. The Save the Dream foreclosure prevention program is winding down and has served more than 27,000 homeowners. The Office of Multifamily Housing has kept busy this quarter. The Development division’s final draft of the 2020-2021 Qualified Allocation Plan was approved by the OHFA Board, after a nearly yearlong process. Additionally, OHFA recently awarded funding to 13 projects in the August round of the Bond Gap Financing, resulting in new construction or rehabilitation of 1,578 units of affordable housing. The division is preparing for the 2020 Competitive (9%) Housing Tax Credit round – applications are due in February. The Compliance division has completed more than 290 property audits so far this year, including more than 5,500 physical inspections. The team has fewer than 30 audits remaining this year. Training sessions hosted by the Training and Technical Assistance division received positive feedback from attendees which will help develop 2020 trainings. The division also conducted a DevCo Inspection webinar that provides information on the software, how to access the Compliance Audit Reports and respond to an audit. The entire agency is wrapping up from another successful Ohio Housing Conference.
